WCA Goes Imperial: 4/16/13

Posted on April 16, 2013 in SingleSpeed Brewing

Imperial West Coast Amber - Imperial Red/Double IPA-Tulip (13 oz) $5
Born at the point where the worlds of Amber and Pale collide, then doubled up to Imperial status.  Resinous enough to support an IPA classification, malty enough to be an Amber.  This hop forward offering is brewed on a solid foundation of Pale, Caramel, Chocolate and Munich malts.
OG: 1.083, IBU: 62, ABV: 8.3%

Hopped on Main - American IPA - Tulip (16 oz) $5
A recipe formulated to coerce malt and hop flavors to intertwine, bringing a well balanced, modern American IPA into being. A Pacific NW hop blend is introduced by route of 5 separate hop additions during boil. Dry hopping follows, leaving behind a super citrusy, floral, and grapefruity flavor profile featuring jabs of hop bitterness - all chilling alongside a muted caramel sweetness.
OG: 1.065, IBU: 72, ABV: 7.5%

Centennial Black IPA - Tulip (16 oz) $5
The battle being waged in ones' glass once they muster the courage to order this brew need just a one word description. Epic. We think that characterized the beer as well. The dark roasted malts with hints of chocolate and coffee go blow for blow with the assertive American hop profile in search of control of this unique beers flavor. In the end a peaceful resolution emerges in the form of a beautifully crafted Cascadian Dark.
OG: 1.073, IBU: 97, ABV: 7.4%

Saison - Tulip (16 oz) - $5
A naturally cloudy, hoppy golden farmhouse ale. Fermented with a Belgian yeast strain, this beer begins with bright spicy white pepper and distinctive white wine notes. The spice fades allowing earthy yeast and hop citrus notes to briefly emerge, then finishes semi-dry. Refreshing!
OG: 1.052, IBU: 29, ABV: 5.9%

Tricycle - Pub (16 oz) - $4
Resting upon three wheels pointing in different stylistic directions sits one hybrid of an ale. While wheel number one spins toward a cream ale, another approaches a wheat, and yet a third rolls near a pale ale. Working together they drive Tricycle to a slightly sweet and citrusy state with just enough hop bitterness to remain upright. Ride On!!
OG: 1.058, IBU: 30, ABV: 5.8%

Weissbier - Pilsner (14.5 oz) - $4 or Hefeweizen (20 oz) $5
A Bavarian-style ale built upon a base of white wheat and 2-Row malts.  German influenced - utilizing both a traditional hefeweizen yeast strain and German raised hops.  Think banana, clove, hazy and crisp.
OG: 1.055, IBU:11, ABV: 5.6%
